WHAT IS
Soul Haum
SOUL HAUM YOGA VISION
TRAUMA MINDFULNESS - All classes will be led by instructors who have gone through trauma training to understand how trauma, the stress response, and resiliency works in an attempt to reduce the likelihood of retraumatization and to create opportunities for regulation and co-regulation. All classes prioritize students’ agency over the asana (postures). Classes will provide tools to build resources and resource awareness so that students are better able to regulate their nervous systems both on and off the mat.
INCLUSIVITY & ACCESSIBILITY - While some classes may have a focus on being more challenging or more beginner friendly, all classes will be made accessible and inclusive to whoever is in class that day. Classes are also made accessible by being available in-person or virtually. Financial accessibility is made available through free and reduced price community classes.
SERVICE & COMMUNITY - Jasmine believes we all have a gift to share with the world and our essential purpose on Earth is to serve and build connection. Soul Haum Yoga will host opportunities for service and encourage anyone interested in being a future volunteer to reach out.
WHAT IS A SOUL HAUM?
The name Soul Haum Yoga plays on the sanskrit word “Om” which also can spelled “Aum.” Aum is a sacred chant over a thousand years old, with three sounds “Ahh” “Uhhh” “Mmm.” It can be translated many ways but one way to understand its meaning is the ultimate consciousness.
The intention of Soul Haum Yoga is to be a space for people to come back to their true selves. The space is created with the mindfulness that it is not the role of the yoga teacher to come in and save or heal anyone but with practice, resources, and a safe environment, students have the opportunity to reconnect to the deeper wisdom of their bodies and their souls to heal and liberate themselves.
Many of us move through the world with a guard up for our own protection. Just as home is a place to let your guard down and be loved as your authentic self, the intent of Soul Haum Yoga is to be a space for people to shed their layers and have the opportunity for their souls to find peace, comfort, and community.
